Ch-ch-ch-Changes!

This year we will be holding the 7th Atlantic Summer Institute on Healthy and Safe Communities!

Over the next couple of weeks this blog will be changed to reflect the theme and information pertinent to this year's ASI.

ASI 2012 will be held August 21-24 at Holland College in Charlottetown, PEI. The theme this year is “Inspiration to Action: Leadership for Active Communities.” Save the date! We hope that you will join us to learn new skills & build capacity for community action!

What is the ASI?

The Atlantic Summer Institute (ASI) is more than just a conference, it’s a learning Institute, with a curriculum that offers a certificate of participation. The Summer Institute really engages participants, providing them with an opportunity to develop skills, learn and share knowledge and work together on programs, policies and services.

The Institute makes the links between crime prevention, social and economic development and health and safety promotion and brings together; community groups, researchers, practitioners, educators, police and government representatives, all the many people and sectors that are working toward creating safer and healthier communities in Atlantic Canada.

L'Institut d’été atlantique (IÉA) est beaucoup plus qu’une conférence. C’est un Institut d’apprentissage incluant un programme éducatif pour lequel un certificat de participation est offert. L’Institut d’été engage activement les participants en leur procurant la possibilité de développer leurs aptitudes, d’apprendre et de partager les connaissances ainsi que de travailler ensemble sur les programmes, politiques et services.

L’Institut vise à établir des liens entre la prévention du crime, le développement économique et social, et la promotion de la santé et de la sécurité en réunissant les groupes communautaires, les chercheurs, les praticiens, les éducateurs, le service de police et les représentants du gouvernement. Tous ces intervenants et secteurs contribuent à créer des collectivités plus sécuritaires et en meilleure santé au Canada atlantique.

SUBSIDY REQUEST DEADLINE:
May 23, 2012

A limited number of subsidies are available to participants from Atlantic Canada attending the full program. Subsidies help with the cost of travel, accommodations, and registration at the Symposium. Amounts are limited and will be awarded on an individual basis.

DATE LIMITE DE DEMANDE DE SUBVENTION : le 23 mai 2012

Un nombre limité de subventions est offert aux participants du Canada atlantique qui participent à la totalité du programme. Les subventions contribuent aux frais de déplacement, d'hébergement, et d'inscription au symposium. Les montants sont limités et seront attribués au cas par cas.
